First released in 1970 the car was described as Dodge’s answer for the Mustang & Camero. With the legendary Dodge Hemi V8 this is a car with power.

What makes this car the leader in it’s class is the new 6.1L SRT HEMI V8. That’s almost a litre bigger than the 2009 Mustang Cobra! It clocks in at 425 raw horsepower. And if you want to maximize the performance you’ll have the choice of the standard 5-speed automatic or the added “6-speed” manual transmission!

In case I didn’t entice you to run to your nearest Dodge dealership just let me note that the Challenger is affordable! That’s right, you can get one today at a starting price of just $22,945!

Test drive the new Dodge Challenger 2009 at your local Dodge Dealership today.

  1. Wow, 22 grand? Must be for the v6, but if I had the money I would love one. When the new Carger came out I like it. When they started showing concepts of this Challenger I forgot all about the charger. Been seeing more of them on the road lately and I dig the color in the pic. If they can make a powerful hybrid that get’s 30+ miles to the gallon they could probably sell a lot more.

I haven’t seen any on the road where I live. But I do know that the Dodge V8 has a Multi-Displacement System (MDS) feature that switches from a V8 to a V4 when the power isn’t needed.

If I had the money though, I’d be in one for sure.

  3. Yeah, GMs have those too but I haven’t heard anyone talk about how much gas they actually save with the MDS. I’ve been cruising through some message boards about MDS and some say that it doesn’t really save a lot of fuel, which I’d be pretty ticked thinking that it could save a significant amount and find out that it really doesn’t.

I’ve also seen where people say they shut it off and only went from 19-20 miles a gallon to 17-18 mpg. Not much of a difference. I thought this was a great idea the first time I heard it, but if it only save a mile or two a gallon then that’s probably only around 30-35 miles extra on a tank of gas. I’d be happy with a V6 challenger though, as long as the car is not too heavy. They need to paint some in the old Plum Crazy Purple with black racing stripes…unless they already do.
