Donald Strickland, who spent last season with the San Francisco 49ers, has signed a three-year contract with the New York Jets. Since the beginning of the offseason, the Jets have been looking to add an experienced cornerback to their defensive mix. With the signing of Strickland, the Jets were able to do just that.
In his seven years in the NFL, the former University of Colorado standout has played with the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles in addition the Niners. Last year in San Francisco, Strickland played in a career-high 14 games.
With the Jets, the starters at cornerback are Lito Sheppard and Darrelle Revis. Considering that both players are relatively young, Strickland’s experience will give New York a trustworthy option in the secondary.
Originally drafted in the third round, Strickland has a reputation as being a good cover corner whose lack of size and top end speed make him most valuable as a third cornerback.

He was a good player for the 49ers, but got bumped again
