Donte Stallworth, the wide receiver currently under contract with the Cleveland Browns, was released from jail on Friday. His release came after spending 24 days in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Florida.
Stallworth received his jail sentence after reaching a plea dea on DUI manslaughter. In March, Stallworth hit and killed a pedestrian later identified as Mario Reyes. Tests found that Stallworth’s blood-alcohol level was over the legal limits in the state of Florida.
Currently suspended indefinitely by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, many league experts believe that the 28-year-old wide receiver wil never play in the league again. Last year, he played poorly for the Browns and Cleveland is likely to release him. Once a free agent, it’s expected that few teams will be willing to that the PR hit.
In his career, Stallworth has played for the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots and the Browns after playing college football at Tennessee.
