As YouTube rolls out higher-quality videos, Ionut Alex Chitu shows us how to download those higher-quality videos as MP4 files.
YouTube’s mobile client doesn’t always work with my carrier’s crappy 3G service, so those MP4 downloads should come in handy for mobile video.

Downloaded videos can be played using applications like VLC, MPlayer, iTunes. The script works in Firefox (using Greasemonkey) and Opera. For other browsers, you can add a bookmarklet.
Update: you no longer have to right-click and select “save link as”. Just click on the link to download the video.
