the microsoft page has some good gadgets but they are really slowing my pc down – and its not exactly slow (AMD opteron quad core!) 2 many gadgets = SLOW!!!
ok. how do u instal these. when i pres install it asks me to save or to find a program on the internet. wat do i do to install these??

Yea, I’m having the same problem as Rosty. When i click the download button, and then install, and open, it comes up with a window asking me to choose a program to run the .gadget file in. I try sidebar, but it doesn’t work! And all that is downloaded is the .gadget file, no folder. If i click it, it does the same thing. Please help me, i can’t get any of them to install!!!!
Even I found that using sidebar gadgets slow down my pc, I’m going to scrap all the gadgets, useless.

Rosty & Andrew – The gadget file you download is a zip file.
You need to decompress it to a directory named {gadgetname}.gadget in “c:/program files/windows sidebar/gadgets/”
It will then appear in the list of available gadgets to add.
Viju – yes you can download a windows sidebar for XP which will allow you to use all the gadgets, just google it.

I absolutely HATE the sidebar and all of it’s gadgets! They are utterly useless, I would like a way to completely erase it from my computer.

Well vista is good… even me at start dint like vista due to its high hardware requirements and there werent many applications that we were supporting vista , specially games. But now almost all the applications work on vista. And its visiually too good… like the aero feature and sidebar gadgets are cool
