Download Windows 7 Public Beta

Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 Public beta would be available late last week; but unfortunately, the servers of Microsoft could not handle the traffic surge and they had to move the date this week. Brandon LeBlanc, Microsoft Spokesman has issued an apology on the server problems they encountered: I know many of you have had issues with the Windows 7 beta site over the last 24 hours, We apologize for the inconvenience that it caused some of you.

Now, Microsoft not only released Windows 7 public beta but also lifted the 2.5 million download limit initially set until January 24. The release of activation keys would be stopped on January 24 but it is possible that Microsoft would keep the software for further downloads.

The same scenario happened in Windows Vista Beta 2 launched on June 7, 2006 when it was only available for three weeks.

I downloaded and installed Windows 7 on Feb 8th 09, using a Gateway M405 Laptop , 512 MB RAM, 20 GIG HD. I had some problems getting the drivers for the Broadcom wireless and Video Display to install properly but eventually it worked. So far I am pleased. It runs kind of sluggish but I need to get that 1 GIG RAM to make it right.
