Doyle’s Blog

Doyle Brunson, in a stroke of showing that old folks really can learn new new fangled technologies, now has a blog for CardPlayer magazine.

Right off the bat I can tell it’s better than most pro players’ blogs, because he starts each one off with one of his “Doyle-isms,” which consist of old-timer Texan bits of blabber, like one of his most recent: “You never test the depth of the water with both feet.” True dat. Others are more slangy, like the stuff he’s known to spout.

Hopefully this blog will contain more interesting info than, again like other pro blogs, what celebrity he hung out with, his current golf score, what new expensive thing he bought, and etc.

I hope it’s quality. Even if he just tells stories I’d be up for reading it. His book Poker Wisdom of a Champion is worth checking out if you like hearing poker anecdotes with a lesson behind them.

  2. Jereme says:

His blog opened with 18 posts on day. Not bad for an old guy.

I concur about the current state of poker pro blogs They seem to be more about ego stroke then poker.

A good poker blog on Cardplayer is Dani Stern’s. He posts the logs from his online hands and explains some of his thought process.
