Analysis
The Bengals seemed intent on improving their defense as well as bringing in a couple of recievers who may end up being special teamers and/or return guys.
I thought Johnathan Joseph was a pretty solid pick. He might be a bit more of a second round guy, but the Bengals pick late and with the run made on defensive players there’s no guarantee he would have been around.
Getting a tackle with their second round pick was also a smart move, but I’m not so sure Whitworth was the best guy around. He’s a late second day type of guy, so the Bengals obviously saw something in him they really liked or they wouldn’t have gone after him that fast. What that something special is I don’t know. He’s not the most athletic guy in the draft, and he seems to be a bit of an underachiever. There were still several highly ranked offensive linemen left when the Bengals grabbed him. After that it was the recievers, and a quarterback who has some potential, but not a lot of polish. Kind of a slightly less athletic Vince Young without the accomplishments.

Nice picks by the Bengals…they reached for a few and God I hope they can control Nicholson.
