According to multiple sources, including the man himself, Drew Gooden is headed to the Dallas Mavericks. After playing with the Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spurs last season, Gooden will join yet another team.
With the Mavs, Gooden has a chance to play a lot of minutes. In fact, he will likely be given a chance to win the starting center job ahead of Erick Dampier. Even if he doesn’t start, Gooden will likely play the minutes that Brandon Bass took the last couple of seasons.
The Mavs will be Gooden’s seventh team in his career. Despite going from team to team, Gooden has actually put up good stats in his career. In 28.1 minutes per game, he has averaged 12 points and 7.9 rebounds on 47.1% shooting.
The 6-foot-10 power forward can score on the low block, knock down the mid-range jumper and finishes with athleticism around the rim. On defense, he’s a good one-on-one defender and his rebounding is also a strength.
