[...] If you want some background on the issue, I suggest reading the extended coverage by Duncan Riley here, here and here (in chronological order) or jumping to Jamsi’s summary post over at WorkBoxers. This is definitely one of those “stories” where the resulting comment “wars” light up your day with fun and laughter (not unlike the 9rules saga many months back).
Adsense Duplicate Content Scammers busted here (they're selling you duplicate content that's "SEO-optimized"... puh-lease!):
http://cityseo.blogspot.com/2006/06/adsense-spam-scam-exposed-photo.html

Photo editorial on some jerks trying to con innocents into buying junk. I hate Cons!

FYI: Google has indexed duplicate content on a site of mine, but it has no PR, despite valuable backlinks. Tells you what it thinks of dupe. Oh, and it was properly referenced too.

You can use duplicate content, but don't expect it to be worthy anything for SEO. (Like those Adsense scammers flamed in the post mentioned above.)

Note: My problem wasn't their selling duplicate content. It was the implied suggestion that it was helpful for SEO.

Nothing really new there I'm afraid, bought Gameruse on sitepoint about 2 weeks ago...I tend to buy sites, jazz them up a bit then resell them on sitepoint, or even setup blogs for sale as well...got a full history over there if you dig a little deeper who ever you are, and there isn't any spam or stolen content there, I've used some free articles from some sites (as I've advocated publicly in the past on numerous occasions) to supplement some sites (with FULL attribution as well I might add) also to see what the effect of them is....indeed I have all sort of weird and wonderful sites built and half built over a couple of servers...experimenting and playing with things is how I learn what works and doesn't, everything from ad placement through to plugins and installs. The meso one is funny actually, I got a dare to see if I could get traffic on it...and nup, too much competition I'm afraid for this word...Godlyreminders (which again I posted about when I bought) was because I wanted to see how a links directory worked (so I bought the site from someone on sitepoint) might even end up selling it soon as well, so again, nothing here that isn't already on the public record if you'd actually care to take a look.

PS: there was NO copyright messages on Joels/ Erics program...none the less they are still fair use.

duncan is such an a$$ for posting that stuff from a copyright password protected area

check this out i'm about to blow the lid on duncan riley's little ADSENSE SPAM RING that he's running. If you just follow some of the links on his blog its easy to figure out which ones are his. Like godlyreminders.com and some others are his. you can see the whois which proves he owns them:

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5820/duncan21ct.gif

then just do an IP lookup to see the other sites he owns:

http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/7932/duncan5tr.gif

Some of them he is linking to directly from his blog, like supplementsguide.net. here is a screenshot of that site:

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8075/duncan59gk.gif

did i mention it is 100% duplicate content from free articles?

Others he does not link to directly from his own blog, but uses the other sites in the network to link to and build rank, like he does for mesotheliomalungcancernet.com. here is a screen shot of that site:

http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/6078/duncan36ia.gif

he tries to hide the identity of some of them with WHOIS guard, but its obvious he owns them. like if u look at the Adsense client number on gameruse.com which is publicly registered to duncan, then compare it to the adsense client ID on supplementsguide.net which is whois protected. Its the same ID:

http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3401/duncan47gy.gif

hmmm maybe he feels it is more important for cancer patients to visit HIS mesothelioma site than o let's say..the Mayo clinic? OR maybe he just wants to game the system because mesothelioma happens to be one of the highest paying Adsense keywords ever

haha- busted!

To be fair Jamsi, I was doing this sort of expose of blog spammers and the like on the Blog Herald years before anyone had heard of the Cowboy...I've just been in (sort of) semi-retirement for a while, but you know, wave around some blood in front of a shark and it doesn't matter if he's sworn off fish or not.... :-)

BTW I'm laying off Yaro now, still not totally happy with his response but at least he's made some ammends. I have got a follow up piece planned though I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Interesting blogger battle here. I hate Adsense spam pages. In fact, I'm going to be doing a photo editorial flaming a similar Adsense Scam on City SEO in the next day or two.
