I’ve been talking a lot about color branding on Brandcurve during the past week as I’ve been sharing my Color Primer, so it’s very timely that DuPont has released their annual Global Automotive Color Popularity Report for 2007.
There’s a new number one in DuPont’s Color Popularity Report. Silver has reigned supreme for six years (knocking green out of the top spot in 2000), but in 2007, more white (or pearl white) cars were manufactured than any other color.
Interestingly, white is the most popular car color not just in the United States but also in Japan and Mexico, while Europeans prefer black.
You can see a break down of car color preferences from the DuPont Color Popularity Report for 2007 below.

What do you think? If you bought a new car last year, what color did you buy?

Our last car (not last year) was forest green – a Forester, so it seems fitting.
Here in Philly, we’re seeing a lot of those pearly gold cars. I personally think they’re unattractive – they constantly look dirty.
