Eagles Coach Reid switches to the Home team

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Hi Hon, tell the boys to get their fishing poles out and be ready to hit the lake in 20 minutes

Coach Andy Reid (NFL original)Mike Golic from Mike & Mike in the Morning, was on TV the other day commenting on the problems that all coaches face with time.

Mike said that when he got out of the Pros, he was approached to be an assistant coach and be groomed for a head coaching job some day.

Wow, can you imagine. How cool would that be? Finish a great career and be asked to go right into coaching the sport you love.

Mike said no.

He what?

He said no.

You see the time involved for the job is tremendous. It eats up every single hour of your day. The coaching profession will take you away from the ones you love to be with the sport you love.

You had better have a very supportive wife or it won’t work. Even then, in most cases, it won’t work.

Priorities

My Boss tells your humble author to take time off to go to my daughter’s volleyball games. It is hard to do that. There is so much important work to be done.

The Boss is right.

He is?

Yes, you have to get your priorities in life straight. Your family needs you!

Mike understood that.

Andy Reid did not.

Both of Andy’s son’s have gotten in serious trouble recently and now Coach Reid is going to take some time off to reconnect with the family.

Is Andy at fault? Well, who knows, but his son’s need his attention and care right now more than the Eagles do. So he will take the time off.

All Consuming

Coaches tend to be super detail oriented, trying to control and anticipate everything that may happen. Their day starts early in the morning and ends late at night. They talk about out working the next guy, as if the hours put in will directly relate to the number of wins.

It is an all consuming profession and it has taken something special away from Coach Reid and he intends to get it back.

NFL Football Fan Question Is your job all consuming? Do you take time out for your family, friends, and self?

As always, any NFL Football related comments are welcome.
