Ecofont has holes in order to save printer ink

This isn’t a new mode of printing documents. More than the “grayscale” feature, there is a new out of the box method for saving ink and it has nothing to do with the print quality on your paper. Ecofont, a new font developed sans serif (makes sense since serif fonts take up more ink*) claims to be able to save 20% more printer ink because it has small holes built into the typeface.

Here are some samples of the font in zoom. Way cool. The suggested size for Ecofont would be about 9 or 10, the standard size, IMHO for long documents. The font is completely free and can be downloaded and installed onto your computer. Ecofont’s holes will show if used with a light source from behind, such as a projector and thus shouldn’t be used in acetates, unless you want really neat bullet hole effects.
* Sans serif means without the serif, or the funky design endings to fonts
