Great commentary as usual Miranda. I’m still not sure who is really getting “helped” here, and it confuses me that so many democrats in the house and senate see this as a good plan. I have reviewed all of the “stimulus” plans and do not see anything in them worth my kids’ futures.

I think that you are right, Jane, that it isn’t worth it for the new car. I will consider writing a post, relating it to my specific purchase. But, even though it might benefit someone else, I know in my situation, we still came out waaaaay ahead.

i JUST bought a used car too, over the weekend. but i have no remorse. i don’t think the sales tax credit can beat the depreciation of a used car, even if the car is one year old.

would you consider writing a blog comparing the two? tax credit on a new car v. used car.

I agree, Maria, that it would be nice if our leaders set us an example of sustainable finances. But I’m not holding my breath. We’ve been told that deficit spending is acceptable since the Reagan years, and that’s how we operate now, unfortunately. No wonder that regular folks think that it applies to them as well!

We’ll see, Bible Money Matters. I think that there is potential there, but like so much else, once the politicians really get involved, money meant for good things is quickly frittered away as waste in re-election efforts.
