Economists Cite Seven Reliable Recession Indicators
Top Indicator Said to be When Economists Start Getting Fired
An elite group of economists has put together seven reliable signs the country is facing a recession. Heading the list is when economists start getting fired.
The next most frequently cited indicator was President Bush going on TV and saying the country is not in a recession.
Other signs include:
- The Fed bailing out Bear Stearns.
- The Sharper Image filing for bankruptcy.
- The stock market failing to respond to the Fed’s stimulus.
- Waitresses getting horses as tips.
- People getting paid $4000 to get malaria.
