ECW: Punk, Nitro Victorious in Pick Your Poison Matches
- ECW World Champion Johnny Nitro def. Tommy Dreamer (non-title match)
- CM Punk def. Kevin Thorn
Both the title holder, Nitro, and the top contender, CM Punk, came away victorious last night on ECW. I think more notable than the wins was the new look ECW was displaying. The show used a SmackDown setup for the entrance as opposed to the smaller ECW entrance and I think something needed to change on the show. Whether this change is enough to turn the show around I don’t know but I think it is a step in the right direction.
CM Punk and Johnny Nitro will square off in several weeks at The Great American Bash. This is a match I am actually pretty excited about because both are fairly talented technically and, although I am not a big fan of either’s skills in storylines (Punk is better than Nitro in my opinion), I think they will be able to keep this match exciting. I would expect Nitro to retain although I hope Punk wins the title soon as he is obviously the future of the brand.
