Email Phishing, Paypal’s Solutions
(Digital Money World) We know how important and how serious it is when it comes to harm from email phishing.
(fish´ing) (n.) The act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers, that the legitimate organization already has. The Web site, however, is bogus and set up only to steal the user’s information.
You get phishing emails all the time from unknown emails asking you to logon to your particular online accounts (even when you don’t have one sometimes, ironically.) And if you happen to click onto the link on your email thinking that the service provider had really some problems that need you to attend to, someone behind the site is waiting for your password to do something to your account. You’ll lost
1) Your money – The attacker would just transfer funds or items from your account to somewhere else
2) Your information – Precious personal data, that would allow the attacker to use the information for something else. The risk of identity theft is extremely high.
Paypal has released a very good white paper which you could use. It’s highly and definitely useful for people who works in the Information Techonology field. You can download the pdf from here.
