Emilio Pucci and the Olympics

What’s Emilio Pucci doing in an Olympics blog? I’ll explain in a little bit. ;)
Pucci is a well-known clothing brand. Popularised by its use of vibrant colours and notable prints and patterns. The brand is being operated and marketed by the Louis Vuitton-Moet-Henessy Group with Laudomia Pucci as Image Director. But you better stop me from going on about fashion. Anyway, I did write something about it in my fashion blog. This is after all a sports blog.
Though Emilio Pucci is more known as an Italian Fashion Designer, he was once a member of the 1934 Italian Olympic Ski Team. So yea, he was an athlete first before he became a designer. It was actually Skiing that paved a way for him to enter the fashion industry.
He won an athletic scholarship to Reed College in Oregon in 1935. He designed the ski uniforms for the team. His work got photographed, which got him noticed that led to an invitation to design skiwear for a story on European Winter Fashion. And the rest is history.
Who would’ve thought, eh? Fashion and the Olympics connected. Ah, well — I’ve been learning about athletes becoming authors, singers and yea, even criminals. So, there’s nothing strange in becoming a designer, eh? Hahaha.
This is fun. ;)
