There are more people in the world who speak English as a second langauge than there are native speakers. (Refer to my previous post.)
Jarkko Laine from Finland has put together some tips for those non-native English speakers who are looking to increase their language skills. As someone who went through this process to improve my German skills, I must say that Jarkko hit it right on the nose. His advice is sound and he includes a number of good links to resources.

Even native speakers can benefit.
English is perhaps most important in South Asia. Here, if you are not good in English language then you cannot dream of having a high paying salary.
I’m always amazed at how many things I can correct on the first proofread, whether in German or English. A tip for proofreading your own work – read the paragraph backwards (last sentence first, then the previous sentence, etc.), which will prevent your brain from “auto-correcting” based on what it expects to see rather than what it actually sees.
