Ernie Harwell still going strong

Former Detroit Tigers radio play-by-play announcer Ernie Harwell is still going strong. In the clip below, Harwell is seen on the steps of the Michigan State Capitol building promoting ‘Walk Michigan’.

Since I lived in Michigan for seven years, I was lucky enough to hear Harwell behind the mic and I was at a game the year after he retired when he was honored by the Tigers organization. With all of the public speaking appearances that Harwell makes, now that he is retired, it’s a shame he still isn’t working games on the radio for Detroit. I still say he should take over in the TV booth for Fox Sports Net and bump Rod Allen. Then I could understand the game better… If you haven’t seen any Rod Allen blunders or calls… you are missing out…. well, not really. (You Michiganders know what I’m talking about though.)
