Want to see something cool? Check out the YouTube video below to see the cover of the U.S. edition of Esquire magazine’s 75th anniversary issue in action.
The cover uses a low power, electronic paper display known as an e-ink screen from E Ink – the same supplier of the Sony Reader and the Amazon Kindle
e-ink screens. The image on the cover flashes between several different images and messages. It runs on six batteries that are expected to last up to 6 months, and the issue costs $6 ($2 more than a regular issue of Esquire).
The coolest part of the e-ink screen on Esquire is the potential it has for marketers and advertisers. For example, think of the potential for interactivity when the screens are eventually linked to the internet. Think of the possibilities!
What do you think?

Very cool and I agree that the possibilities are endless. Now, if they could remove the batteries, really geek out and harvest the body heat of the reader and convert it to electricity to power the e-ink display like they’re trying to do with cellphones and other portable devices…
