NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Yesterday we looked at the fact that Eugene Monroe, the left tackle from Virginia, might be moving down the draft board due to a knee injury.

Today, it is a surprise to find out that a mock draft has moved Eugene Monroe up the ladder. Now he didn’t make it all the way to first, but pretty darn close. This is from a mock draft by Nicholas J. Cotsonika, in the Detroit Free Press on April 19, 2009.

The Rams need to replace Orlando Pace. Monroe has great feet and is the best pass protector in the draft.

Where will Eugene Monroe end up?

Where will Eugene Monroe end up?

The first round appears to be a mix and match of the two quarterbacks, Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez, the two tackles Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith and the two super athletes, linebacker Aaron Curry and wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Conventional wisdom has it that a quarterback or tackle will go to the number one pick. This is the wisdom even though Aaron Curry seems to be a lock as a NFL superstar.

It seems that 3 positions are crucial at draft time; quarterback, defensive end, and tackle. For Eugene Monroe, this only means he will be drafted somewhere in the top six.
