European Reasons to Upgrade to Office 12

Bob Tarzey suggests that retailers and resellers may have additional reasons to be excited about the coming release of Office 12 in European nations. He states that 95% of European companies already use office products for their business applications, however the majority of them do so on versions of the Windows OS before XP.

He states that the selling point may be a combination of the new features and productivity suggested in the new Office 12 interface as well as the collaboration and file-sharing options that are more integrated as well. Putting those two things together may be enough to encourage companies to both upgrade their Office software as well as their OS.

I think that’s probably a really good point, but wondering where the hardware piece falls into all of that. I’d think if companies are still using pre-XP versions of the OS, there may be challenges with their existing hardward handling the needs of XP/Vista and the new Office 12. Just my thoughts, what are your opinions?
