Everyday Is A Holiday When You’re Your Own Boss

I was thinking yesterday and this weekend about being my own boss. I started to realize that when you’re an entrepreneur, everyday is like a holiday. I’m talking in a sense where you don’t have to go to work, you can relax if you choose to, and BBQ with friends and family.
As everyone is going back to work today because they “have to,” I’m flying down to Beverly Hills to hook up with some friends of mine that have been a big inspiration. My friend Ryan Blair of PathConnect.com has taught me a lot about entrepreneurship. This guy has built several multi-million dollar companies and at the age of 26 sold his company for $30 Million.
You can check him out on the “Big Idea with Donny Deutsch.” It’s a great interview on how someone went from literally nothing to having huge success. This is a great story of success and goes to show that it doesn’t matter where you come from, what your race is, your gender, you can have massive success if you choose to.

You don’t have to create the type of success Ryan has to be your own boss & have everyday be a holiday. Make a choice that you wanna be your own boss and make your own schedule, find a mentor, and go take action on it. T

See, I would beg to differ. Because while it’s true in theory that you can take off whenever you want because you don’t have a “boss” – the opposite is also true in that if you are the “boss”, you’re expected to be on at all times. After the birth of my first kid, I was back to work – at the office – in less than a week. Why? Because I’m my business. And clients expected me to be at work, baby or no.
Don’t get me wrong. I love being an entrepreneur. I started my law firm at the age of 27 and I am very glad that I did. But flexibility is kind of an oddity in the entrepreneurial world – true, you have it, but you rarely take advantage of it.
