Exelon Corp. Joins Commerce Chamber Expats

Power company Exelon Corp. is now officially the next company to join the list of disgruntled companies quitting the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. A significant amount of companies have already left the chamber, complaining about its stance on federal climate-change legislation that could potentially have a negative impact on several of these companies’ business.
 
Exelon, the nation’s biggest nuclear power plant operator, left the chamber in much the same fashion as the other power companies dissenting from the Chamber of Commerce, highlighting a growing divide between American power companies and the government. Power companies are concerned over the government’s slowness in setting climate change policies because of the amount costs that such a move will incur for the companies.
 
The group of companies leaving the chamber has stated that they don’t expect their actions to impact government policy and that they are not opposed to climate-change legislation. However, they have remained in opposition to the House bill as well as to the Environmental Protection Agency’s opposed regulations.
