Expanding the Cube Farm

That’s probably not quite an accurate picture of what it’s like to work at Microsoft, but considering they’re purchasing the office space from Safeco, an insurance provider, it may be closer to fact than normal.
It seems, Microsoft is expanding their campus reach to a 6-building campus currently owned by Safeco insurance in the Redmon area. No major change or movement will take place in the near future, as Safeco employees will more than likely remain on site for the next two years in the transition.
What’s impressive to me though in reading this article is the amount of job growth Microsoft has had in the area:
Microsoft has added about 1,400 jobs in Puget Sound every year for the past three years. As of June 30, the end of its fiscal year, the company employed nearly 62,000, including about 28,000 in the area.
Guess that’s a good reason to purchase some prime commercial real estate when it becomes available. The last paragraph in the article provides even more insight into Microsoft’s plans for further expansion and job growth in the area.
