On Todd R. Tresidder’s Financial Mentor website, you can read a tremendous wealth of content about financial and retirement planning. If you haven’t checked out, his retirement planning checklist, you really should.

It’s a very comprehensive, yet easy to understand guide for retirement planning that covers a variety of aspects from saving and building your assets in your 20’s to a specific checklist for 5-10 years before retirement.
If you haven’t started saving for retirement, his 27 Retirement Savings Catch-Up Strategies For Late Starters is a very helpful piece.
If you are looking for a good read, check out his site often.
Another basic retirement planning guide that I like is the video series by Ben Stein. Though the tips are from two years back, some of the best information is still relevant.
Though younger people might know Ben Stein more as a comedic actor (or the host of Win Ben Stein’s Money), he is also an economic, political and financial commentator and adviser. Early on, he was the speechwriter for Presidents Nixon and Ford. He is also the son of noted economist and writer Herbert Stein.
