Extending the Use of Your Laptop

I’m running on a laptop that is now approaching 4 years old. I know, I know, it’s just a a baby in human years, but in laptop years I think that’s something like 96 in computer years.

I’ve really worked this Toshiba Satellite A105 of mine. Only reformatted the hard drive once, but should have done it much earlier as that was a big help. I also upgraded the RAM right off the bat to the max of 2GB allowed.

My challenge of late though is that I’ve reached the DOA date of my battery. I can’t complain though as it’s held up well. The frustrating part is that a replacement battery costs about 25% of the cost of a whole new laptop.

However, I just read a great article on PCMAG.com that gives some tips on extending the life of your laptop. Some of the information about the battery tips, were particularly helpful and will be something I’ll remember if I ever replace this one.
