From what I know of Tipler, he had a strong political agenda. I read somewhere that Tipler reported the SETI program, strongly endorsed by Sagan, et al, to William Proxmire's Golden Fleece committee for wasting the taxpayers money. Proxmire awarded the SETI program with the Golden Fleece, and that resulted in a funding cut for about a year, after which it was re-instated. I forget what the reason was, but Proxmire didn't object the following year when it came time to renew SETI's funding. Anyway, Tipler did seem to have a chip on his shoulder... Yes I agree. Frank Tipler acts like he doesn't know the most important feature of the physics that he and John Barrow researched. A lot of his stuff seems to be motivated by something other than science.
