I saw Eye-Fi of the Today Show. A guy (forgot his name) was demoing it as part of a line-up of gadgets that would be great to give this Christmas. When I saw it, I knew it would be a perfect gift for people who love taking digital photos.

The Eye-Fi is a SD card fitted with a wireless transmitter. It comes with a USB adapter. You set it up on your computer and after that plug in the Eye-Fi to an SD card compatible camera. Most SD card cameras work with Eye-Fi. Once the Eye-Fi is set up every time you walk near your computer it will automatically download your photos to the computer or even publish it to photo sharing or printing web sites such as Flickr, Facebook, Shutterfly, etc.

As of now it only comes in a 2GB SD card.

This is an awesome device. It takes away one of the tedious tasks of digital photos and that’s plugging your camera into your computer. Some people don’t get to download their photos precisely because of this. What’s the price of convenience you ask? Why it’s just 99 dollars!

Here’s some of the features or the Eye-Fi.

  • Uploads photos automatically from Eye-Fi Card inside your camera. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to your home network.
  • Provides free and unlimited photo uploads to your computer and your favorite photo or social networking website via the Eye-Fi Service. Photo transmission is secure and private.
  • Supports sharing and printing websites, including KODAK Gallery, Shutterfly, Wal-Mart, Snapfish, Photobucket, Facebook, Webshots, Picasa Web Albums, SmugMug, Flickr, Fotki, TypePad, VOX, dotPhoto, Phanfare, Sharpcast and Gallery.
  • Handles full-resolution jpeg images and intelligently re-sizes photos if limited by your chosen photo or social networking website.
  • Features Eye-Fi Manager for easy set-up of wireless network and photo upload preferences.
  • Fits digital cameras that use SD memory cards.
  • Offers 2 GB of memory to store photos on the card.
  • Includes USB memory card reader to make set-up easy.
