Facebook Integration Coming to PS3?

Word from the MI6 Games Marketing Summit has revealed quite the interesting (and somewhat unexpected?) piece of news. It seems that PS3-to-Facebook integration (or something similar) is already in the works.

According to John Koller from SCEA, the functionality to post to the popular social networking site from the PS3 “is critical not just for marketing but for the types of games we’re trying to develop. That day is coming quicker than some may think.”

But for those reading the fine print, it’s important to note that Koller didn’t necessarily say that Facebook would be availble through the PS3, only stated that plans are in the works to bring about the type of functionality that allows a game you’re playing to “spit out something to Facebook.”

All the same, that’s pretty interesting and intriguing news and I look forward to hearing more about these plans.
