Faces of Beautiful You is a new website and online video series that launched last month. HSN and FanRocket (an LA-based production company) have worked together to create the series. The webisodes chronicle the adventures of three friends – Hallie, Smith and Nicki, covering the topics of beauty, love and careers.

In an interesting format, it features beauty tips and product reviews mixed in with comedy and Gen-Y angst. While targeting beauty enthusiasts and online shoppers, Faces of Beautiful You also appeals to those looking for quality web entertainment.

The site features many interactive components. There’s a downloadable beauty bag widget that allows you to customize your bag, watch the shows on the widget itself, get HSN product discounts, and read and write product reviews. The widget can be place on over 60 different social networks.

The cell phone feature allows you to text back and forth with the stars of the show and issues alerts when a new episode is launching.

Fan Rocket CEO Danny Kastner says, “The series embodies what I’ve coined as brand fiction: video programming that features brand integration as a vital component of the story. Products play an important role in the outcome of the story’s plotline. It’ll change the way brands interact with their audiences. I’m confident it will be a hit!”

Of course social networking has played a role in the marketing of Faces of Beautiful You. You can log onto the Facebook page to share beauty tips, ask questions of the stars, and talk about the products.

Each of the stars also has a Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to help garner more buzz about the site (and the products).

It will be interesting to see if Faces of Beautiful You builds up steam. If done right, it could help increase HSN sales of beauty products. Only time will tell if young shoppers are interested in the webisodes and its characters enough to allow them influence their shopping decisions.
