Farewell, BlogTV.ca

BlogTV.ca is apparently no more…or soon will be no more.
According to an internal memo, the video-sharing service will be shut down after just six month. “This decision is based on business realities,” said Alliance Atlantis spokesperson Jennifer Bell. In other words, BlogTV couldn’t generate enough revenue or user to justify its existence.
Perhaps the highlight of BlogTV’s short life was its launch party at Supermarket, a cool restaurant in downtown Toronto. The event reminded people of the dot-com days with an open bar and a sweet schwag bag.
Truth be told, BlogTV should probably have never been launched because it was way too late in the game. The sooner online executives realize that there’s no advantage launching a Canadian version of a popular service, the better off we’ll all be.

What about video.ca. It is another Canadian focused video hosting/sharing site. BlogTV.ca users could go there. And the owner James Cogan, is a good guy. Do you think he made a mistake in creating video.ca?
Fair point. There are going to be exceptions to the rule, which is what makes the Internet such an interesting place for entrepreneurs and investors.
