Fatal Address Error for AOL

December 21, 2006 by Jason Bean

I recently sent an e-mail to a friend to an AOL address I had listed for them in my Outlook address book. The e-mail got bounced back to me, but I was impressed with the automatic response from AOL.

We would love to have gotten this email to friendsemail@aol.com. But, your recipient never logged onto their free AIM Mail account. Please contact them and let them know that they’re missing out on all the super features offered by AIM Mail. And by the way, they’re also missing out on your email. Thanks.

Nice marketing AOL. It also clears up for me if AIM addresses ended in @aol.com or @aim.com
