Father’s Day TV and Movie Gift Ideas

Next Sunday (June 21st) is Father’s Day and I thought I’d put together some gift ideas in case you’re still scrambling to find something.  I know that I have left my own shopping until last minute this year!

Amazon.com has a great selection of movies and television show box sets on DVD for every price range.

In the $6 and Under section, I found a wide variety of movies and the offerings were far better than I was expecting.  The films ranged from wild and funny like Wedding Crashers to somber and serious like Shawshank Redemption.

I know the super cheap bin at big name stores usually has some pretty dicey stuff but this really is worth a look if you are trying to work with a tight budget.

If you are able to spend more, you can check out the following areas: $6-$8, $8-$10, $10-$12, $12-$15, $15-$17, $17-$20, $20-$25, $25-$50 and $50 and Up.

You can also search by the type of DVD you are looking for.  The sale sections are broken up into Action, Comedy, TV, History, Sports and Drama.  This is really helpful because when I first tried browsing, I didn’t find anything that I really liked but narrowing it down by category helped.

I didn’t know what I was looking for and then I stumbled across The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, Volume One – The Early Years in the TV section.  I would have never thought of that on my own but my husband loved this and I plan to order it (I hope he’s not reading this!).  This is a really great time to find deals so I was thrilled when I saw that the set was selling for 60% off.  Similarly, the price of the James Bond Ultimate Collector’s Set has been slashed in half!

While I don’t mention it in the title of this article, there are also some great Father’s Day sales on music of all genres!  If the special father you are shopping for happens to be a fan of the group, Chicago, it might be worth it to enter the Chicago sweepstakes.  You could win a trip for two to see them perform live!  The prize includes roundtrip airfare, two nights’ hotel accommodation and an autographed copy of The Best of Chicago: 40th Anniversary Edition.  That would be an AMAZING Father’s Day gift!
