File sharing and social networking together on one site?

Exaroom.com sent out a press release today that caught my eye. This website is looking to combine two of the favorite past times of the young internet user: file sharing and social networking.

I set up an exaroom.com account and will be checking it out over the next couple of weeks. It is in beta right now so I don’t want to dip too much time into it. It brings up interesting possibilities to marketing yourself, maybe you provide a lot of content to draw people to you on there? I am sure there are numerous ways to take advantage of this new site.

On the flip side though I already am wondering about the issues of copyright and how content will be protected when it comes to the file sharing. Hopefully I will have a little more information about this before I post a review. I think it will be interesting to see how the recording industry responds to this site.

Note to self: Do not load any protected songs.
