This year when you get your taxes done at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, you’ll be helping disadvantaged women get financially literate. Jackson Hewitt announced last week their partnership with Dress for Success (DFS). DFS is a non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
Jackson Hewitt will partner with DFS through a series of comprehensive tax information seminars to be held in several cities nationwide.
The free seminars will educate women about tax preparation and budget planning. DFS Professional Women’s Group members will learn tips and information about filing a tax return as well as basic money management skills. The Professional Women’s Group is a networking and training association for women who have recently entered the workforce, some for the first time.
Joi Gordon, chief executive officer of Dress for Success Worldwide is excited about the program.
"Our clients are ready to maximize their knowledge and understanding of how to successfully manage all aspects of their personal finances. We are thrilled to be incorporating tax planning into our financial literacy curriculum, courtesy of Jackson Hewitt."
The Jackson Hewitt seminars cover:
- Organizing tax-related paperwork
- Selecting the most appropriate filing status
- When and how to file a tax return
- Tax tips such as commonly overlooked credits and deduction
- How to find a tax prepare
- Tax planning throughout the year
- Financial basics such as budgeting and planning for a potential refund
