Finland’s Makela-Nummela Wins Women’s Trap Shoot

Thirty-six-year-old Satu Makela Nummela of Finland won the Gold Medal on Monday in the women’s trap shooting event, winning the second shooting medal for Finland of the day. She hit 21 of 25 target to best Zuzana Stefecekova of Slovakia.

Four women were tied for third at the end of the competition. American Corey Cogdell, at 21 the youngest competitor in the event, won the shoot-off for the Bronze Medal.

China’s Liu Yingzi, the favorite to win the competition, did not make it to the final round.

Finland’s Henri Hakkinen took the Bronze Medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event earlier in the day.
