Firefox Not So Fireproof

October 3, 2006 by Jason Bean

Fellow b5′er Mary Ford writes about the black hat community finding an “unpatchable” hole in Firefox’s implementation of some javascript along with 30 more vulnerabilities. Since this is the all-so-popular Firefox, this means it’s impacting Windows, Apple and Linux OS’s.

The flaw is specific to Firefox’s implementation of JavaScript, a 10-year-old scripting language widely used on the web. In particular, various programming tricks can cause a stack overflow error, Spiegelmock said. The implementation is a “complete mess”, he said, adding: “It is impossible to patch.”

Get more details here, thanks Mary for the alert!
