Foodie Friday: A Bust

I had been saving a butternut squash to use for this Foodie Friday post, but I guess I waited too long because when I opened it up, I inhaled about a million little mold spores.
BUT I did go to Safeway yesterday and found these little guys:

Im a HUGE ice cream fan, and these little individual cups were a $1 a piece. Not too shabby.
In honor of the single worst food post ever, I thought I’d open it up to discuss The Dreaded High Fructose Corn Syrup Debate. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch more TV!!! check out the video below:
Also, sorry about the lack of video posts this week- one of the trainer’s was out on vacation, so I worked doubles all week to fill in. Barely left room for sleep- let alone movie making, but rest assured they will be back and they will be grueling. If you guys have any specific areas you wanna see worked, let me know.

I can’t see the video. I must have something weird with my settings, because embedded videos never work. :( And I”m too lazy to figure out why.
I love the little ice creams. One of my favorite newish things at the chain “casual dining” places are the little bitty dessert shots. Little bitty ice creams – as long as they taste good – work too!
HFCS? I used to believe it was evil, evil, evil. Now? I think it’s a symptom. I try to avoid it, but mostly because it’s found in overly processed foods, mostly. I *try* (but often fail) to only eat food, only eat things that could (theoretically) be made in my own kitchen, and I can’t recall seeing HFCS as an ingredient in a store. But, as we thought we were going to get hit by a hurricane (it spared us), we bought junk food for if the power went out, and we now have plenty of HFCS and PHOs in the house, I’m sure. My sons found the bag of Cheetos, too. Whoops! :P
I saw that commercial for the first time last night. I love that it finishes with the “sponsored by the corn refiners association” at the bottom. What makes HFCS even worse for me is the fact that almost all of the corn products we eat are made out of genetically modified corn. That just doesn’t sit well with me.
if someone wants to eat HFCS- thats fine with me. you can eat dirt if you want, im not gunna judge.
This is what gets me:
says HFCS is perfectly fine- like table sugar- for you in moderation. a lot of things as. Saturated fat, for instance. If there was a national campaign saying that saturated fat is ok, only in moderation, everyone would be up in arms. do we really NEED a commercial saying that? doesnt this country have enough issues eating properly, now we have to confuse them with messages saying HFCS is ok now? a lot of people dont even know what it is.
or moderation for that matter.
I saw the other version of this commercial – the one with the girl and her boyfriend and popsicles. This one is distracting because I could swear that actress was Buffy’s crazy roommate in one of my favorite episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer LOL. On topic, I think the commercial is kind of pointless. The people who actually have a clue what HFCS is are not the type to be swayed by the commercial.
