Football Players Shouldn’t have to Work…

Today, the AP reported that Oklahoma is taking new precautions to avoid football players getting paid for work they did not do. Because of the NCAA fiasco last year, employers are now no longer allowed to have more than five players at a time working for them.
But OU ad the NCAA are missing the bigger picture, which employers everywhere seem to understand. Football players shouldn’t have to work! Why?
College football players shouldn’t have to work because…
1)…football is going to be their career. There are TONS of teams in the NFL, and don’t most players get drafted anyway? I mean, why should you have to work during college. That’s time you could spend thinking about football.
2)…whether your team wins or loses is more important than the players’ futures. Ok, even if they aren’t drafted for some reason, worry about the future tomorrow. TODAY there is a game to win! That’s a lot more important than the success of an individual player. The TEAM is a well-oiled machine. Who cares if what you’re doing is the right thing for just one person. He won’t be around in a few years anyway!
3)…life isn’t fair, and students need to learn that from the start. Sure, it may not be fair that the most talented players get special breaks while other players have to actually work and go to class. Guess what? Life isn’t fair! People need to learn that while they’re young. You step on people to get what you can out of life for yourself.
Don’t worry, employers. I’m looking out for you. I know that your school is important to you and you want your teams to win. That’s what matters.
Oh, and just in case you have NO ability to detect sarcasm in writing, the above is all one big statement to employers out there – it is freaking sad that schools like OU even have to put rules like this into effect. You’re adults. You should know better for goodness sake. If you college winning a game is so important to you that you’re willing to corrupt the system, look in the mirror. You are what is wrong with the world today.
