Suppose you are the hiring manager interviewing an awesome candidate with highly marketable skills and you just know they are perfect for the job but you also know that they have several other employers courting them, too.
How can you increase the chance that they’ll want to work for you more than the others? Remember, it’s about so much more than money.
- Win them over with your culture. If a candidate has multiple offers they’ll be able to be a lot more picky about which company they want to work for. The culture of the organization often dictates how employees get personal fulfillment or how they rank on the I-love-my-job-o-meter, so if you’ve got a desirable culture, flaunt it.
- Win them over with your management style. Remember, if a man feels that you care about him, he will follow you into battle. If you are a transformational leader make sure the candidate gets that.
- Win them over with their future team. People spend a huge part of their life at work and how they get along with their team heavily influences job satisfaction, so if you’ve got a great team, be sure the candidate meets them. Their positive energy may just win the candidate over.
