Four of the World’s Best Women Tennis Players Headed to New York

Watch out New York! Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Jelena Jankovic, and Ana Ivanovic are headed to New York’s most famous sports venue, Madison Square Garden. These four powerful women tennis players will be there to kick off the BNP Paribas Showdown for the Billie Jean King Cup on Monday, March 2, 2009. The event will be tele-cast on HBO.

“With the BNP Paribas Showdown we will bring together some of the biggest names in tennis, sports and entertainment to not only showcase the top women in the world but also honor Billie Jean King. We are looking forward once again to a tremendous night at the Garden, one that tennis fans won’t want to miss,” says StarGames President Jerry Solomon. StarGames is producing the event.

This is definitely a unique tennis event. Each participant will compete in one set and the winners will advance to a best of three set final. The draw will be announced at a later date.
