“Pascal Gentil is France’s medal hope at the championships and even at the Beijing Olympic Games. Gentil is the bronze winner in over 84-kilo division (heavyweight) at the Athens Olympics, but he was considered as good as the gold medallist.”

France’s first target is to win two gold in the Beijing World Taekwondo Championships then off to conquer the 2008 Beijing Games where they plan to take home the gold, too. The French team is betting on Pascal Gentil, who is a two-time Olympic medalist and also a World Cup holder, to help them achieve these goals.

The Worlds will be a test on their athletes to determine which events they can effectively compete in and thus will their choices for the Olympic qualifier that will be held in Manchester.

They primary strategy is to choose the best players from the tournament, then decide on the event or category for the qualifiers.

I reckon a lot is hanging on the upcoming Beijing World Taekwondo Championships then.
