Some background: Just before Christmas, 2007, Pure Weight Loss (formerly LA Weight Loss) abruptly announced it was closing all its 400 centers nationwide by Jan. 4., 2008 leaving thousands of customers without a weight loss program – or the hundreds and even thousands of dollars they prepaid for Pure Weight Loss services and products. Even worse, Pure Weight Loss managers and employees – some who had worked for PWL for years – rang in the new year from the unemployment line.
FranchisePick.Com readers began complaining about closed centers before the media broke the story. The extent of Pure Weight Loss’ communication with its thousands of members was two vague press releases and a notice on its website, FranchisePick.Com began posting Pure Weight Loss news and discussions and finally established the Pure Weight Loss Refund Information Center. What to do if Pure Weight Loss formerly L A Weight cannot find your folder. I stopped 3 times last year and they could not find my folder. I am owed over $600.00. I would like my products.

I am quite unhappy with the way this closing was handled. If you did not report in after a week an employee would call you. Why weren’t we notified by phone or mail that this was happening. I did not hear anything on the news about this. I am on maintenance and would like a refund for the bars which I purchased.
i would like a refund for my LA Lites and snacks and shakes….i spent $517 and only picked up maybe $100 worth. iw ould like my money back. patricia sorrentino
I filed the so called “Refund Application” by certified mail only to have it “Returned to Sender”. It has the 747 Dresher Road, Horsham, PA 19044 address. Has anyone else had this same problem?????
I sent my request for refund in by certified mail and it was returned undeliverable. What is the next step in pursing a refund?
I also filled out the refund application sent it Priority Mail and had it returned, “Not Deliverable As Addressed”. Can anyone out there give me some InfO, what we are suppose to do next. I am owed 10 boxes of Lites and the rest of my membership. Please help!!

I was unable to get my refund on bars owed me. I see that others have sent the form we were told to send, only to get it back: “return to sender”. Of course, no forwarding address. What do we do?
I too have spent money by being told that if you purchased all the bars you need when you sogn up…..they would store them for you. My file was put on hold sue to obtaining a job and just recently drove past the center and the doors are locked and a very small sign on the door. I am due 88 bars but just how are you suppose to get your refund? What do we do!
i too am waiting on a refund of $2500.94 I am very unhappy that there has been no responce to me. I signed up for 2 years and was dumb enought to pay for everything upfront including all the bars now I can’t get me money any sugestions.
The same thing happened to me. I sent in the refund application with receipts and it was returned to me unopened. Said the address was no good. I spent good money on sending it registered mail.
i’ve been trying to get a refund since last year. i live too far away from what was la weightloss center in northwest fresno.
they owe me more than $2,000.

How can I get my weigh-in records from Pure Weight Loss?
I spent almost $5,000 up front for my program and only used 10 weeks and 20 boxes of 144 and 2 take off out of three cases that I was told that ZI would need. And I too experienced lost files and misleading information. What can we do to get out money back? Shame on this company and those who helped them do this to us!
I have talked with the attorney, Mr. Lieberson, that is representing Pure Weight Loss, and there is no way to retrieve the records. According to Mr. Lieberson the files that remain are in a very large garage/storage facility in no filing system of any kind. It’s extremely random. .. I hit a dead end :(

They owe me over 300.00 and I have not yet received a response.
My suggestion to everyone is to contact the attorney listed on the bankruptcy notice that everyone received. Leave a respectful not distasteful message and someone will respond to you. They will either be able to help or give you a number and name of someone that could better help you. There is a good possibility, like in my situation with Pure Weight Loss, that there is no help. PWL, based in Horsham, PA, filed for bankruptcy shortly after the business ceased operating, January. The bankruptcy case, along with our consumer protection lawsuit, are both still actively working through the state court system and federal bankruptcy court.
