Freakin’ Sweet – Ron Gilbert signs with Hothead Games!

Some very good news has come our way via this post from Kotaku. Ron Gilbert, SCUMM genius creator and the man behind such fantastic games as Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island, has finally signed a contract to be Create Director over at Hothead Games. And what’s even better? Now he has some place to finally get his much awaited RPG/Adventure game, DeathSpank, out to the peeps of the world. DeathSpank has been described as a “Monkey Island meets Diablo”, which could only mean one thing in the eyes of an Adventuress. The GREATEST GAME KNOWN TO MAN!!!

As you may recall, Hothead Games are the people who brought one of my favorite comics, Penny Arcade to life in a futuristic adventure game that combined Tycho and Gabe with world domination. Okay, they didn’t really take over the world… At least I don’t think they did. Gilbert helped Hothead Games put together the Penny Arcade adventure, which is called On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness and I’m guessing that Ron was so awesome, Hothead asked him to join up. That’s all sorts of awesome.

DeathSpank will be released in an episodic format, where much coolness is sure to abound.
