Freshbooks Beyond Invoicing

A couple of weeks ago, venture capitalist/blogger Paul Kedrosky wrote a post lamenting the lack of a good online accounting service by asking “Where is the Freshbooks of accounting?”. It was a nice compliment for Freshbooks, which has gained some seriously traction (100,000 registered users and counting) in recent months with its online invoicing service. Well, it turns out Freshbooks does have beyond invoicing judging by a quasi-cryptic post by CEO Michael MacDerment (see photo). Here’s an excerpt that leaves you wondering what’s on the horizon:

“In the months to come you can expect to see FreshBooks tackle more fundamental accounting functions things like expenses and estimates. I won’t say anything else now except that you can expect us to deliver these services the “third way”. They will be UnAccounting services that are fast to use, save you time and make your business look more professional. We’re excited to be forging the path, we hope you come along for the journey. To see the benefits of FreshBooks’ UnAccounting services, read our 2006 customer survey results.”

Now if I was a betting man, I’d be thinking that Freshbooks plans to come out with a no-frills, easy-to-use, user-friendly accounting service that meets the needs of many business owners, who want an economical and useful tool to do business better.
