We all know that this campaign has been all about fear. Which is appropriate, since it draws to a close around Halloween. Today I offer something truly terrifying: More “proof” that Barack Obama is a scary socialist.

I just finished a book on the history of Seattle (Skid Road, if anyone is interested) and although they had plenty of reform mayors and a strong socialist component to many elections, whenever a new regime took power they always headed towards the center. I suspect the same result from Obama – despite the calls for change, I doubt anything radical is about to happen now that he has been elected. Of course, the Supreme Court hasn’t voted yet, so nothing is cast in stone.
Good point, Trader Vic. The fact is that the president knows that the entire country has to be governed, and that means there is room to move to center. Which is good — since America is generally centrist. And, honestly, I think most of Obama’s rhetoric has been centric.
And I loved his acceptance speech. We are on the road to change.
