From RSS to MMS

Boston-based Mobile technology developer Skycore, LLC launched a publishing tool for content providers that will convert and deliver RSS feeds as messages to mobile subscribers via Skycore’s Cellyspace Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)[Source]

How is this done?

According to the company’s press release:

Converted content is presented in a slideshow format including up to eight (8) slides, each with an image, 300 characters of text and an optional URL link for additional content, info or promotions. MMS Feeds can be billed as premium to the end user, or alternatively, standard (non-premium) rated feeds. In addition to content, providers can add third-party advertising or promotions to their feed [Source]

Content providers can also Cellyspace’s publishing tool to simplify the subscription process. This includes: (i) A HTML widget and link generator for the provider’s web site; (ii) A custom keyword for use in their print and broadcast promotions;(iii) and a WAP (mobile internet) jump page generator for mobile advertising networks.[Source]

This seems to be an important development in RSS feeds but initially the cost maybe high. Is it? I seem to get this impression when the website suggested that it becomes a premium service.

It still seems to be an interesting development.
