From the Irony Division of Major League Baseball

There’s all sorts of bad ideas involved with this one, I’ll try to get through them. Major League Baseball, in their infinite wisdom, felt that civil rights would not be complete without their own personal tribute, a spring training exhibition called “The Civil Rights Game.” (T-Shirts still available!) They are playing the exhibition in AutoZone Park in Memphis. Memphis was chosen as the locale because is the the home of the National Civil Rights Museum. The National Civil Rights museum is in Memphis because it’s near where Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, which sort of seems backwards. It should probably be in, you know, Montgomery or Selma: someplace that the civil rights movement started, not the sight of the death of its most visible leader. But that’s not all.
The most ridiculous part of this story is not the fact that the Civil Rights game exists, or that it’s basically a spring training game, or that there are t-shirts. (Once again: still available!) Oh no, the most ludicrous part of the Civil Rights game is the Cleveland Indians’ participation is such an exhibition.

Yep, Chief Wahoo himself, at the Civil Rights game. Luckily, we stopped listening to Native Americans a long time ago, in case they complain.
